Carmel Convent High School, Kalamboli, organized a special programmeon 3rd October 2024 in the school auditorium to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, celebrating the 155th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. The event, which honored Gandhi's principles of truth and non-violence, was led by the school’s Principal, Sr. Sushmita, and the coordinator, Mrs. Tereza ma’am. The students of Grade VI hosted the programme, which began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi's photograph as a mark of respect. This was followed by a prayer dance, a prayer service, and a value-based skit that highlighted Gandhi’s philosophy. The students also paid tribute to Bapu with a beautifully choreographed dance performance.
Mrs. Tereza ma’am spoke about the relevance of Gandhian principles in today's world, encouraging students to embrace his values. The high school students then performed a street role play to raise awareness about cleanliness, echoing Gandhi’s vision of a clean and just society. The day concluded with the message that "Cleanliness is next to Godliness," emphasizing that service to humanity is the first step toward achieving this ideal.
