The Independence Day was celebrated on the 15th of August, 2017. The ceremony started at 7.45 a.m on the school ground holding a large gathering that comprised of students, teachers, office, staff and P.T.A members.
The School celebrated the 70th Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm. The principal Sr. Sushmita welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest Mrs. Shailaja Patil who hoisted the national flag which was then followed by National Anthum sung by everyone.
The programme for the Independence Day was put up by STD VI A & B. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Chief Guest and other teachers. The cultural programme began with a prayer service followed by prayer dance, a patriotic song and poem. The students also presented patriotic group dances and skits.
The chief guest, Mrs. Shaialja Patil delivered a short speech. She told the students about the supreme sacrifice the great martyrs gave for the sake of freedom. She also said that freedom was very precious and it is very vital to preserve it. The chief guest exhorted the students to follow the ideas of the great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru Subhash Chandra Bose etc. A short speech was given by the Principal Sr. Sushmita A.C.
The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Tr. Ramya Santosh. In the end sweets were distributed to the students as a token of love and concern.
Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
